Apple event and Tesla Cybercab set tech agenda this week

The Verge previews Apple’s September 9 event, where the company may introduce new iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods models, while noting that rumored devices including a foldable iPhone remain uncertain. WIRED reports that Tesla’s steering-wheel-free Cybercab is beginning public rides in Austin, Texas, as the US government investigates whether it complies with federal vehicle safety standards. Tesla says it does not need a regulatory exemption, while NHTSA’s audit query will examine the company’s determination.
